About Us

From the very beginning, our passion for beer and our love for music has defined us. Recalling back to our youths, we remember the giddy excitement of a new release from our favorite band. The ‘oneness’ we felt with each and every person in a packed club, watching our favorite band play. This is the same excitement we hope you feel with each new beer release. And the same camaraderie you feel when you visit our pub. If you’ve ever been in a room full of people and felt totally connected to them, you’re in the right place. We make beer for YOU, and in that sense, we make beer for US. If you want to hang out with us, pull up a stool, pull out a guitar, let the sun hit your face and let’s enjoy this short time we share on the planet together.

 Jim Blair

Owner

Born in the land of the Phoenix, Jim was brought out of the desert at a young age to attend house party after house party and evangelize about craft beer to the masses long before it was even called craft beer. Along the way he carried weapons for his country on the DMZ in Korea, temporarily sold his soul to the devil in law school and played the corporate game of cat and mouse before admitting he had a problem that only opening a business around his love of beer would solve. When he’s not at the helm of his desk planning the next really big thing, he teaches a little of this and a little of that (business law and scuba diving mostly) and scuba dives in really spooky shipwrecks like Scooby Do.

Favorite Hobby: Scuba Diving

Favorite Quote: “Never wrestle with a pig because you both get all dirty and the pig likes it.”

If you weren’t doing what you’re doing for a living what would you do and why? Without limitation, I would be a photojournalist. I would love to see the world in it’s entirety during this one pass that we’re given and capture images that are thought provoking.

Favorite Band: NOFX

Describe yourself in three words: Short attention sp-squirrel!

Brayden Patterson

Brayden is 30 years old and enjoys talking beer, music, hockey, and hanging out at Creek Monkey. He says, “ It’s great when your job can also be a favorite spot to hang out.” He loves The Monkey, and Rocksteady brewing and everything we do and he wants you to love it too!

Favorite Color: Teal

Turn-offs: Bad grammar, elevated sense of entitlement, light switches (got to save power)

Favorite Quote: “If you tell the truth you never have to remember anything.” – Mark Twain

If you weren’t doing what you’re doing for a living what would you do and why? If I were not working for Rocksteady and Creek Monkey Tap House, the honest answer is I’d probably be working at another restaurant (or two). The difference being that as opposed to looking forward to work, I would most likely dread every shift. However, being that we can make up these answers: I would be a famous comedian, putting the finishing touches on the script for part 3 of my zombie movie trilogy that I have already sold to a major studio for hundreds of millions of dollars.

Favorite Movie Quote: The entire script for Blazing Saddles, but if I had to pick one…

“Since I am your host, and you are my guest, what are your pleasures, what do you like to do?”

“Play chess…screw…”

“Let’s play chess.”

Kevin_Sharp  Kevin Sharp

Head of Restaurant Operations

Kevin has worked in the hospitality industry since his youth. He went on to professional training with large chain restaurants until we kidnapped him and blackmailed him into indentured servitude with our furious band of misfits (We still hold the photos of him in a rave, spinning chem lights and bouncing to techno.) Kevin manages restaurant operations for Rocksteady Brewing. This currently includes Creek Monkey Tap House and our independent catering operations. Future plans include a mix of tap rooms and restaurants throughout the East Bay. To quote Kevin, “Anyone can offer good food and service, but only the few that strive to escape mediocrity, become truly successful.” Kick ass Kevin, we’re behind you all the way, but keep the techno music turned down.

Turn-ons: Long walks on the beach….Just kidding. Good people and good conversations. Giving back.

Favorite Movie Quote: “Frankly, my dear, I don’t give a damn.” – Gone With the Wind
